Welcome From The Headteacher

Thank you for your interest in the Deputy Headteacher position at Wellfield Academy, a school within Endeavour Learning Trust.

Wellfield Academy is an ambitious, thriving and outward-facing school, driven by our mantra of ‘Nothing but the Best’. This belief underpins every decision we make and every interaction we have - for our students, our staff and our wider community. We refuse to place limits on what is possible and are uncompromising in our pursuit of excellence, opportunity and care for all.

This is an exceptionally exciting time to join Wellfield. We are one of a small number of schools nationally selected for the Department for Education’s Schools Rebuilding Programme, which will see us move into a state-of-the-art new school building in the coming years. Alongside this, our reputation within the local community continues to grow rapidly. The number of families choosing Wellfield as their first-choice secondary school have significantly increased over the past three years– a powerful reflection of the trust placed in us and the impact of The Wellfield Standard in action.

At the heart of everything we do is The Wellfield Standard – our shared commitment to being inclusive, aspirational and community-centred. These values are not slogans; they are lived daily in our classrooms, corridors and conversations. Every child is known as an individual, supported by skilled and caring staff, and challenged to achieve their very best. We believe that every student deserves the same care, ambition and opportunity that we would expect for our own children.

As a school rooted in the heart of Leyland, our strong sense of community and family ethos is one of our greatest strengths. Students feel safe, valued and respected, and our culture strikes the right balance between high expectations and high support. Behaviour is calm and purposeful, learning is ambitious, and relationships are built on mutual respect. ‘Nothing but the Best’ means that we never settle for less than excellence – but we achieve this through compassion, teamwork and shared responsibility.

We are deeply committed to developing young people who are confident, kind and ambitious; students who value inclusion, contribute positively to their community and leave Wellfield ready to succeed in the next stage of their lives. We are immensely proud of the significant improvements we have made in recent years, but we remain restless to improve further – always guided by our values and our moral purpose.

Crucially, our pursuit of excellence is matched by an equally strong commitment to staff wellbeing. Protecting workload and supporting professional growth is non-negotiable. We want our staff to thrive – individually and collectively – in their classrooms, staffrooms and across the Trust. We believe that when our staff feel valued, supported and inspired, our students benefit most.

We hope the information enclosed gives you a clear sense of our vision, values and ambition, and encourages you to apply to become part of the Wellfield team at this exciting point in our journey.

Yours faithfully,

Mr J Lewis
